Meet the Founder
Visava Social Foundation
Swati Mallikarjun___
Swati Mallikarjun journey is not one of convenience, but of unwavering commitment, compassion, and courage. Born into a humble family where her father worked tirelessly to support four children, Swati chose the path of nursing, completing her ANM and GNM degrees to create a foundation in caregiving. For 28 years she has served people with passion and dedication.
While managing her personal responsibilities—marriage, parenting, and familial caregiving—Swati also balanced demanding nursing jobs at reputed institutions like Dinanath Mangeshkar Hospital and Sangamner Nursing Home. Over the years, she poured her heart into serving patients and her family alike, never letting challenges break her spirit.
But as years passed and system limitations became more evident, Swati envisioned a place where service would come from the heart, not just a paycheck. That’s when the seed of an old age home was planted in her mind. Three years ago, that vision became reality.
Today, Swati runs a compassionate and healing space for the elderly—an old age home that has cared for over 70 people, with 50+ recovering and returning to their families. Currently home to 20 elderly individuals, her ashram has become a sanctuary for those who were once abandoned and hopeless.
Her dream is to be like Sindhutai Sapkal, who became a mother to the orphaned. Swati aspires to be the “Mauli” for the elderly—offering love, comfort, and dignity to those in their twilight years. She believes that serving the elderly is equal to serving God, and blessings earned through such karma are the most divine.
“From Nursing to Nurturing – A Life Dedicated to Serving the Forgotten Souls of Society”
Swati Mallikarjun, with decades of experience in nursing and caregiving, has transformed her life’s hardships into a mission of love and service. After serving in various hospitals and navigating her own family responsibilities, she founded an old age home that has already touched the lives of over 70 elders. Today, 20 elderly residents receive not just medical care but emotional healing under her loving guidance. Honoured with the Adarsh Ratana Samman, Swati stands as a living example that true service lies in compassion. Her dream? To be a mother to the elderly just as Sindhutai Sapkal was to the orphans. With support, her ashram can offer a rightful home to every elderly soul in need.
Few words from the Founder’s Desk
Life’s journey taught me that service to others brings true fulfillment. Coming from humble beginnings with four siblings, I pursued nursing education through ANM and GNM programs. After marriage, while balancing family responsibilities and professional duties, I worked at prestigious institutions like Dinanath Mangeshkar Hospital and various nursing homes in Sangamner. However, after thirty-five years in healthcare, I felt called to something greater. Three years ago, we established this foundation, and since then, over 50 people have received care and returned to healthy lives, while 20 continue their treatment with us. Like Sindhutai Sapkal became mother to orphans, I aspire to be a caring presence for the elderly and vulnerable.
